About the program

Engineering companies sit on more structured information than almost any other industry, and most of it is locked inside PDFs, drawings and revision histories. This program is about getting it out reliably, at the volume real projects produce.

You will design an extraction pipeline for a document set you choose: what to extract, how to verify it, where human review belongs, and how to keep it correct when revisions arrive.

What you will be able to do
  • Classify and structure a document set before extracting anything
  • Extract tables, schedules and metadata from PDFs and drawings
  • Design extraction schemas with confidence and review thresholds
  • Handle revisions, superseded documents and version conflicts
  • Build a verification loop that catches extraction errors

Instructor

Arvanord engineering team — the document and drawing pipelines behind client systems.

Prerequisites
  • Comfort reading technical documents
  • No programming required — schemas are designed, not coded
Assessment

Practical project — a working extraction pipeline for a real document set, with measured accuracy.

Curriculum

Program outline.

Module structure is published openly. Lesson content is produced to Arvanord's engineering documentation standard.

01Document sets
  • What engineering companies actually hold
  • Drawing types, sheets and revision conventions
  • Specifications and schedules
  • Tender packs and how they are structured
02Extraction
  • Text, tables and layout
  • Reading drawings: regions, title blocks, annotations
  • Schemas and structured outputs
  • Confidence and review thresholds
03Revisions
  • Versioning and supersession
  • Detecting change between revisions
  • Conflicts and how they get resolved
  • Audit trail requirements
04Verification
  • Sampling and spot checks
  • Measuring accuracy honestly
  • Human review design
  • Failure modes and escalation
05Practical project
  • Build a pipeline for a real document set
  • Define the schema and the review step
  • Measure its accuracy
  • Certificate issuance
Questions

Common questions.

Does this require programming?

No. You design the extraction schema, the review thresholds and the verification loop. Implementation is covered conceptually, with working examples.

What documents does it cover?

Drawing sets, specification books, schedules, tender and submittal packs — the documents engineering companies actually work in.

Beyond the course

Learn the method. Then put it to work.

Academy programs teach systems thinking. Our engineering team builds the systems themselves.
